apologies for my lack of commitment to the land of blogging recently. i had a deadline on monday which crept up on me like a monster from under my bed.

i rediscovered this image i did earlier in the year. it was a scan of some insides of a pig, i believe it was a combination of heart, kidneys, liver and intestines. i edited it slightly to create the illusion of a painting rather than a photograph but im reallly pleased with how it worked out.

i had a bit of a revelation today, which is a first.

i’m going to get back to focussing on details of the body, i enjoyed this more.

i’ll write a little more when my plans form.

but for now.

so i collected my 120s today. i knew this film wouldn’t have come out right, i managed to jog the shutter speed from the 1/60 it needed to be on to 1/125 which is what has caused this darkness down one side, good one.

but this is what i kind of like about photography, surprises.

there are actually a few images i’m really pleased with from the botched film. i’ll post a couple more once i have done some editing.

my other film came out wonderfully too so this evening has been spent scanning negatives and eating flapjack.

mary ellen mark’s photos for the new alice and wonderland were exceptionally inspirational for my own photographs. these sorts of masks have been used a lot in high fashion photography, i’d like to work with them in a less cliche way. the development goes on.

[un-edited].

another image from the studios yesterday.

not too sure if I’m as keen on these, i think it was the cat mask i didn’t like. i’d like to try one with the fox mask and a rabbit.

was a pretty smelly day in the studio.

i’ve been looking at david chan’s work recently, although i love the pictures, i feel more inspired about what he and others say about them.

it’s 2am now, i must get to sleep.

studio time today. it’s tiring but fun. i guess the only way to learn is to play.

i’m a little unsure as to where this is going, but i like it. this will hopefully be re-shot in the near future, with more of a context.

these have also been shot on 120 which shall be processed in the next 48 hours, with good outcomes.?! please, thanks.

there are a few more photograph to follow from the same shot but different ideas.

but for now.

friday has been good to me.

woke up this morning to an e-mail from sarah cosgrove asking if i wanted to go to London on monday to do some work with her. she is a photo stylist working on shoots as well as film sets and advertising, sourcing props, people and clothing. marvelous.

also went to check out an exhibition space for my degree show [nash interiors]. the space is incredible. the top floor of the furniture store will be home to roughly eleven people’s work at the end of may during nottingham trents 14th annual photo festival. really pleased with the space, although its mid construction/development/decoration i’m excited about its potential.

this evening i have been looking at possibilities of doing a masters in ny. hopefully in graphic design or art direction. this will require an amount of funding which will hopefully be possible. these are just options, big possible options that i’d like to pursue.

in relation to current work i have found my self exploring anthropomorphism, which is the attribution of human characteristics to non-human creatures and things [alice in wonderland, beatrix potter, most children's stories]. an interesting direction in relation to future exploration i feel.

but for now.

much entertainment gained from producing this.

not really sure of if it was the look  i was going for. but still, i guess it is quite amusing.

came across tim flach today, who makes some incredible photographs of animals and the close up details we often miss.
